Maarten Baas
November 27 -   April 27, 2019

A solo exhibition of the work of Dutch designer Maarten Baas (b. 1978), who is considered one of the most influential young designers of our time. His theatrical, playful, and radical style moves in some of his work between surrealism and primitivism, and zigzags between design and art. Baas says he's "An artist who uses design as a tool." His work includes product design, unique pieces, installations, public sculptures, and interior design. Baas burst onto the international scene in 2002, when he burned furniture he had purchased in a flea market and from IKEA; about two years later he was commissioned by a wellknown gallery to burn iconic pieces of furniture.

* The exhibition premiered at the Groninger Museum, Holland
