Our presence and being in the world are mediated by objects. We eat with cutlery and dishes, sleep in beds surrounded by blankets and pillows, circulate by means of scooters, cars and airplanes, express love with rings, balloons and dolls, exercise our faith by means of sacred books and ceremonial dress. These objects, techniques and technologies enable us to entertain complex relations both with one another and with the objects that surround us. The upcoming winter exhibition at Design Museum Holon will explore, by means of the museum's permanent collection, how the objects around us have become active participants in everyday life, while examining the degree of closeness and intimacy that we feel towards the surrounding material world.
