Claudia Lazar | Sub Curator

Claudia Lazar

Claudia Lazar is a Romanian artist and curator, with a background in design and experience spanning from the artists' studio to gallery management and international events. Through her projects, she aims to increase awareness on the Romanian culture, as well as to create inter-cultural bridges in the "glocal" present culture.

She initiated and managed ShopArt, the first art fair in Romania that brought together contemporary artists and public at World Trade Center Bucharest (2002-2005). She continued as director of the Assemblage Gallery in Bucharest (2003-2004), exhibiting works from young artists to contemporary masters. Afterwards, she shifted to The Romanian Union of Visual Arts as the head of the Exhibitions and Cultural Projects Department (2004-2007). Currently, she is working as a project manager for the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.

She graduated from the Design Department of the National Art University in Bucharest in 1999 and she completed her Ph.D. thesis in 2012. She has been working and traveling in international artistic environments since 2001.
