Chassis Chair, 2011
Steel, polypropylene

The Chassis Chair is the first item of furnishing produced in a technology derived from the automotive industry. The frame is produced from a steel sheet stamped by a robotic welder, forming 300 ton press, with the excess steel used for the legs and joints. The metallic parts of the chair are joined together by a  the basis which supports a removable seat and backrest unit. This is made of a high-quality, 4 mm-thick polypropylene layer. The end-product of this high-tech yet efficient procedure is a lightweight, stackable 5.4 kg chair. Inspired by the beauty and aesthetics of contemporary sports cars, the Chassis Chair also appropriates the advanced techniques of their making.
