Design Museum Holon - Press Release / April 2010

Last Chance to See:
The State of Things: Design in the 21st Century at Design Museum Holon
4 March - 22 May 2010

Spring will be the last chance to see the Design Museum Holon's current exhibition, The State of Things: Design in the 21st Century, which closes on 22nd May.
Due to popular demand and unparelled visitor interest the exhibition has been extended.
Seize the chance to see the Museum's inaugural exhibition which attracted more than 10,000 visitors in its first month.

The Museum is open late (10.00 - 20.00) every Tuesday and Thursday.

The cost of tickets is NIS 35 for adults and NIS 30 for visitors aged from 11-17.
The cost of tickets for children is NIS 20 (5-10 years old).

The Museum's iconic building by renowned architecture Ron Arad, has been celebrated in the international press. It was recently selected by Conde Nast Traveller Magazine (American Edition) as one of the new seven wonders.

The State of Things features more than 100 objects that collectively reflect issues concerning the practice, consumption and cultural impact of contemporary international design. Ranging from ordinary household items to life-enhancing technologies, the exhibition reveals the same poetic quality evident in the new Ron Arad building that houses them. Each group of works represents a contemporary category - whether through the materials employed, the concepts conveyed or the uses intended. These objects reflect our times so acutely that they could only have been made in the last few years. The categories of the exhibition are: New Essentialism, Mutant Remix, Of the Body, Social Anxiety, Super Beauty, Craft Economy, Beyond the Designer and Design Lab.

Galit Gaon, Creative Director at the Design Museum Holon, says: "We have been delighted to host such a significant exhibition at the Design Museum Holon. The exhibition has brought together the work of some of the most important figures in the field of design today. The remarkable success of our first exhibition has forged a path to putting Holon on the international design map."

This landmark exhibition has been curated by leading international curators and writers, including Barbara J Bloemink, Julie Lasky, Aric Chen and Gareth Walker.

Design Museum Holon is an award-winning architectural project by Ron Arad Architects which opened in January 2010. The Museum is the most exciting recent development to emerge in the Middle East and is part of an urban regeneration initiative which aims to transform the city of Holon into a centre for design.
