An original exhibition dedicated to Lea Gottlieb, founder of Gottex and one of the pillars of Israeli fashion, who pioneered Israeli fashion throughout the world and changed the face of the traditional swimwear industry.
Mrs. Gottlieb was involved in every aspect – vision, inspiration, design, purchasing, material and manufacturing innovation, opening new markets, and locating partners – an entire Zionist endeavor in a petite, energetic figure.
Throughout her career Gottlieb developed a unique personal handwriting based on inspiration drawn from different fields such as ethnic sources, works of art, places she visited, opera and theatre, and landscapes. Each collection she designed was preceded by extensive research of materials, prints, sewing techniques, and developing pattern cuts, as a result of which collaborations were established with leading world manufacturers, and the most advanced technologies were introduced.
The exhibition positions Lea Gottlieb’s work and sources of inspiration at the center, and presences her unique contribution to the swim and beachwear industry in Israel and around the world. The contemporary and future section of the tribute to Lea Gottlieb features a unique design that was specifically created for the exhibition, and expresses an ongoing vision, alongside textual research conducted among a variety of women who provide different perspectives of the swimsuit: as a fashion, material, technological, innovative, historical, cultural, or gender item.
The tribute exhibition to the late Mrs. Gottlieb is being held in conjunction with Gottex Swimwear Brands Ltd.
