We are two designers - Baiba Lindane and Ugis Gailis who represent design studio MAJO officially launched in October 2008. Creative work of MAJO includes the recognition of the ancient Latvian folk traditions and the contemplating of today's tradition, which altogether inspire to create things that visualize Lettic (Latvian) in a contemporary sense. These are emotions and sense what we want to pass on to users through our design things.

Ieva Laurina http://ievalaurina.com/
Ieva Laurina (1983, Riga) is a Latvian designer currently living and working in the Netherlands. She has studied fine arts at Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs de Strasbourg in France as well as at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Since 2004 Laurina has exhibited her work in numerous exhibitions and design fairs around Europe as well as has had two personal shows in Latvia and France. In 2008 Laurina successfully presented her Nest hammock at the Interieur design fair in Kortrijk, Belgium, where it was awarded several prizes. It has been exhibited and published widely since. The designer has often collaborated with Latvian design studio Rijada organizing exhibitions and workshops. Laurina has a tactile and feminine handwriting with a preference for soft materials. Her wish is to create and communicate positive emotions through everyday objects and experiences.

Mara Skujeniece (Studio Skujeniece) www.skujeniece.com
Led by Mara Skujeniece, Studio Skujeniece designs furniture and interior products. Central to Mara's work which takes much of its inspiration from her Latvian origins, is the tactility of material, honesty in expression and a well thought-out process. Among other projects, the studio was commissioned to design the tableware for de Bakkerswinkel bakery/cafes in Amsterdam and a Moroccan ceramic collection ‘Made in Fez' for Butterfly Works, Amsterdam. Mara Skujeniece is also currently a teacher at Design Academy Eindhoven.

PATTE was born as a joint project between Art Academy of Latvia and BA School of Business and Finance when students Laura Danilane, Ilze Berzina and Liene Bluma came together and worked on their master's thesis. Later, in autumn of 2009, the project turned into the company PATTE. PATTE applies design and innovations, creates hand - made tradition-based design accessories for clothes and home interiors. All goods are made from natural materials. Patte is a socially responsible company.

Design studio RIJADA was established in 2008 as communication platform between society and designers in Latvia. RIJADA'S leading designers Rihards Funts and Zane Homka also devote attention to the development products for children. They are convinced that the world should become more playful, creative and open towards children. Therefore, designers spend time together with children in their creative workshops. Natural learning process and sense of wonder can be found in each toy.

Stanislav Katz (born 1983, Latvia) is an Art Director / Designer working in a company KATZ specializing in interior and furniture design. KATZ is founded in 2008 in Riga, capital of Latvia by him and Dmitry Holomyov. Stanislav's design works has been shown at ISaloni Moscow, European Design Exhibition in Tokyo, ICFF furniture exhibition in New York, Maison&Objet in Paris. Many other works include interior design project development for luxury private apartments, restaurants and exclusive boutiques in Latvia and abroad. |
