Martin Mostbock
Flaxx Chair, 2011
Flax, polypropylene, steel
Flax assumes a new form in Austrian designer Martin Mostbrock's Flaxx Chair. The synthesized material used is environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable. The seat shell comprises of natural fiber mats which are molded into a stable three-dimensional form by pressing multiple layers of the material. The mats predominantly consist of flax, an annually renewable raw material, and are held together by textile polypropylene as an adhesive.
To develop the material Mostböck had collaborated with a manufacturer
specialized in interior car linings.
