Glazing with a metallic finish, which after a third firing creates a fused metallic layer on the surface of the ceramic glazing. The resulting effect resembles gold and silver plating on metals, and in the world of ceramics it is mainly used for decoration. The luster mixture is composed of various metal salts which produce a pure metal layer once the other elements in the chemical compound evaporate during firing. This glazing creates an opulent and one-time effect that can also be seen in the work of designer Jaime Hayon, like in Hope Bird, which endows objects with an air of one-of-a-kind opulence and the fantastic.
