Out of the Box

Design made in Israel

June 2, 2014 – and July 31, 2014

The Disseny Hub, Barcelona, hosted “Out of the Box” – Design made in Israel, an exhibition that describes through everyday objects how Israeli designers struggle with the desire to create in the face of the need to exist.

Barcelona Design Week is back, the annual event focused on design, innovation and entrepreneurship organized by BCD Barcelona Centre de Disseny (Barcelona Design Center). This international meeting once again brings together businesses, designers, entrepreneurs and other agents within the business sphere and the creative industries, as well as the general public interested in these topics.

With the slogan ‘Design is Here!’, the ninth BDW will delve deep into design, entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity with a wide programme of over 60 activities: exhibitions, the Design Services Market, a talk given by Ron Arad, the Investment Forum of the Creative Industries with entrepreneurs, the Hackathon for Social Good, the ‘We Pop Up’ documentary, as well as workshop, presentations and networking activities.

The main activities of BDW 2014 will be organized at the new headquarters of BCD, the Disseny Hub Barcelona building, a new facility consolidated as the reference space TTfor design in the city. BDW 2014 will include a full programme of activities under the initiative ‘Guest Country: Israel’, organized in collaboration with the Design Museum Holon and the Embassy of Israel in Spain. ‘Guest country: Israel’ will focus on creative entrepreneurship and innovation, two strategic areas for both Israel and Barcelona.

From 2 June to 31 July the Disseny Hub Barcelona will host “Out of the Box” – Design made in Israel, an exhibition which, through everyday objects, describes how Israeli designers struggle with the passion to create in the face of the need to exist.

The creatives start from the need to go out and to think outside the established margins, “out of the box”, with the aim of developing and achieving a single point of view. The exhibition is organized by BCD, the Israeli Embassy and Design Museum Holon.
